Chief AI Officer (Fractional, Part-Time)

HOPLONai gives growing businesses a complete security operation: the tools, and the agentic AI team that operates them.

SMEs and scale-ups can buy good security tools. What they can't do is staff the people to run them at 3am. HOPLONai closes that gap with agentic MDR: AI agents that coordinate defences across endpoint, email, browser, cloud, human risk and compliance at machine speed, because attackers now operate at machine speed too.

The role
You'll own the AI direction of HOPLONai. This is a senior, fractional role of up to 10 hours a week. You set the plan, hold delivery to account, and decide when to push on, change course or stop.

What you'll do

• Own the AI roadmap: goals, priorities and milestones for the agentic layer
• Run regular reviews with the AI and engineering team, and clear blockers
• Spot early when something isn't working, then redirect effort to where it has the most impact
• Be accountable for AI deliverables: what ships, when, and to what standard
• Set the standard for safe autonomy: what agents act on alone, what needs approval, and how every action is logged
• Keep HOPLONai ahead of AI governance requirements (EU AI Act, ISO 42001) as they become buying criteria
• Report progress, risks and decisions to the Co-Founders and the Board

What we're looking for

• A proven record taking AI or ML work from plan to production
• Experience setting direction and holding teams to account without micromanaging
• Comfort making hard calls on priorities and trade-offs
• Clear communication with engineers, customers and investors alike
• Security, agentic AI or B2B SaaS experience is a strong plus

The details

• Time: up to 10 hours a week
• Reports to: Co-Founders Giannis Kostakis (CEO) and Anas Amer (CTO/CPO), and the Board
• Location: remote, with possible occasional London meetings
• Compensation: retainer and/or equity
